Empty Talk

Sometimes it fails to explain itself to me
Why did things go end up this way
Some people always took the trouble
And catch me as I stop myself to say

You never knew how I felt about this
Probably didn't bother too
Somehow think I deserve her
But why can't nothing else just do?
That's just not cool.

If things were a bit different
If I could go change back in time
If you would know about the truth then maybe
You could be just mine

If maybe I were more accomplished
If I had made that choice
If I were someone to look up to
I'd be conversing to your voice
Just empty talk
Talking into space
Empty talk
Doesn't matter, still regrets remain

Society. Chai.

I don't know if this comes off as rude or condescending, but its something I lose patience with from time to time.

Everyday life involves a whole bunch of people interacting with you. Regardless of how many count as friends, enemies, trustworthy, irritatingly sweet or chatty, indifferent, inhuman or plain bastards, their interaction and interference in life is unevitable. No matter what may be our preference, we are subjected to this occasional burden of small-talk and general 'polite behaviour and niceness.'

Then it comes to the point when you get sick of it :/

Truth is we're pretending. We're not interested if you dropped out of college to be a model. We're not interested how your mama runs a business in Powai or interested in hearing about the girlfriend you made in Nepal over a bet with a friend. Truth is we all love some time alone, and I don't like those five minutes I get being polluted with irrelevant bullshit while I could be listening to Lynard Skynard or Strapping Young Lad.

But we will pretend. Because we're arm twisted into it and have no choice. Get your masks. Practice those fake smiles. Nod incessantly and wonder when the fuck are they going to shut up. Because as of lately, meaningful conversation has been lost somewhere. And it has been replaced by bogus social convention. This is not a cliched Ayn Rand ideological-fanboy antic, just a frustration we often tend to overlook or ignore and I got fed up about it.

And you were saying?
